Max Lemaitre

Max Lemaitre

CEO and Founder

Max Lemaitre is a technology entrepreneur and an expert in carbon physics and nanotechnology. He received a bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he published research on soft-lithography patterning and carbon nanotube growth. He completed a Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2013, where he co-founded Delta R Detection, a national-award-winning start-up aimed at commercializing an explosive detection technology. His subsequent work on source-gated, vertical field-effect transistors helped unravel the novel operating mechanisms behind Mattrix Technologies’ CN-VFETs and VOLETs. Having contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and patents on the subject, he co-founded Mattrix Technologies to bring improved pixel solutions to the OLED display industry.

CTO and Founder

Dr. Bo Liu is a co-inventor of the CN-VFET and CN-VOLET. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida Physics Department in 2010. During his Ph.D. studies in Prof. Andrew Rinzler’s lab, Bo led the effort in demonstrating the world’s first CN-VFET and CN-VOLET. After receiving his Ph.D., Bo co-founded Mattrix Technologies to develop and commercialize the CN-VFET and CN-VOLET for AMOLED displays. Bo has extensive experience in the fabrication and optimization of organic electronic devices. During his time at the University of Florida, he was the co-author of 14 publications and 8 patent applications.

Chief Scientific Advisor and Founder

Dr. Andrew Rinzler is a physics professor at the University of Florida with expertise in the science and applications of low-dimensional carbons, including nanotubes, graphene, and fullerenes. Mattrix’s evolved technologies were first developed in his laboratory. He has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals with over 50,000 citations and is co-inventor on 48 US patents. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society and a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.

Svetlana Vasilyeva, PhD

Svetlana Vasilyeva, PhD

Director, Chemistry

Dr. Vasilyeva received her Ph.D. from the Inorganic Chemistry Department at Herzen State Pedagogical University, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. After graduation, she continued her career as an Assistant Professor at her alma mater from 2000 to 2007. She worked as a visiting professor at the University of Northern Iowa and as a research scientist at the University of Burgundy, France, and at the University of Florida. Dr. Vasilyeva’s research expertise spans inorganic synthesis, electrochemistry of conducting polymers, nanocomposites, and catalysts for such energy applications as supercapacitors, batteries, fuel cells, ozone treatment devices, flexible electrochromic ‘smart’ windows, displays, and optical shutters/filters. She has co-authored 25 peer-reviewed publications, over 25 conference presentations, and 7 patent applications. Presently, Dr. Vasilyeva is the CTO and co-founder of Catalytic Energy, Inc., a start-up company developing novel electrocatalysts for PEM electrolyzers and fuel cells. At Mattrix Technologies, Dr. Vasilyeva leads research and development of carbon nanotube dispersants and ink formulations for scalable deposition of carbon nanotubes.

Michael Pachos is a Managing Director at Samsung Ventures, which manages $2.5B+ for Samsung Group companies and select outside investors. He joined Samsung in 2008, first working out of the Seoul headquarters, and then transferring to the Menlo Park office in 2013. He focuses on Consumer, Display, and IT-related investments.

Jin Jang is a Professor with the Department of Information Display, Kyung Hee University. His current research programs are in oxide and LTPS TFTs for displays, TFT circuits, and TFT application to sensors, QLED, and flexible AMOLED. He has authored or co-authored over 900 technical publications. Over 560 are in SCI Journals such as Nature, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Advanced Energy Materials, Energy Environmental Science, APL, the IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, and the IEEE Electron Device Letters. He is currently the Director of Advanced Display Research Center.

Mr. Berkoff is the Chairman of the LCD TV Association, a global not-for-profit marketing trade association dedicated to connecting the entire LCD TV supply chain and related companies. A highly regarded industry expert, he has served as executive vice president of marketing and chief marketing officer (CMO) for LG-Philips LCD. Mr. Berkoff has sat on the boards of at least five publicly traded companies, including LG Display (LPL), InFocus (INFS), and UniPixel (UNXL).
